To keep a check on tourists’ outpour, Paris authorities are planning to ban tourist buses from the very heart of the city. The step is also taken to increase other interesting activities in the city such as cycling tours and heritage walks.
Though Emmanuel Gregoire, Paris’s Deputy Mayor believes that the situation is not as bad as in Venice or Barcelona. However, Parisians are quite concerned with the flooding of tourist buses in the city centre. He further said that Paris is done with tourist buses and that these are no longer welcome in the city.
According to the new mobility law in France, local will have more powers so that they can regulate local traffic. Also, tourists will be provided with environment-friendly transport options like bicycles and electric scooters (on rent).
Paris made a record last year as nearly 50 million tourist arrivals in Paris and the Ile-de-France region was noted. The number was 48 million in the year 2017.
