When viewed from above and far, Griddhakuta Peak resembles a vulture with its wings folded. Hence, the name. It is also known as the Vulture Peak. The peak is located in Rajgir. It is an important Buddhist site as it used to be a retreat and a training centre, where Lord Buddha used to frequent. This pretty hill is an excellent place for hiking. You will also see Buddhist monks walking about.

The hot spring in Tapovan is, according to the 7th century Chinese Buddhist monk and traveller Hiuen Tsang, one of Buddha’s favourite places. According to him, Lord Buddha bathed here and, ever since, people have been flocking this hot spring believing that it will cure their chronic diseases!

This natural lake in Rajgir gets its name from the shape of the lake, which resembles a horse or ghora. The lake is surrounded by hills on three sides, thus the name katora or a bowl. The lake is an excellent spot for birdwatching in winters. A large number of migratory birds make the lake their home during the winter months.

Manjhar Kund and Dhuan Kund are twin waterfalls. Locals believe that the water here can cure stomach ailments. The twin waterfalls are pretty popular among visitors.

Bhimbandh Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Kharagpur Hills in Munger district. The place is surrounded by many hills and even more legends. As per Mahabharata, Bheema built a dam here in this place, and apparently the water here stays warm throughout the year. There are a number of hot springs here.

Valmiki Tiger Reserve is one of the best places to see the Himalayan Terai forests. There are around 40 tigers inside the reserve forest.
