Maharashtra Tourism to host more festivals on the lines of Grape Festival

Those impressed with MTDC’s (Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation) Grape Festival that recently concluded in Junnar might soon have more reasons to rejoice. The festival was attended by more than 800 enthusiasts, coming from places as diverse as Alibuag, Nashik, Pune, Ahmedabad, places from Rajasthan and around, and became quite a roaring success.

The said festival was held from Feb 16 to Feb 19 and was a joint initiative by grape cultivators and some of the resorts in Malshej Ghat. The festival made it feasible for the visitors to visit vineyards, grape gardens and even soak in the experience of wine-making. A refreshing chance for the urban dwellers, the Grape Festival also led to substantial revenue.
As a cue, MTDC has its eyes set on more such festivals. MTDC MD stated that, "We are also planning to organise a pomegranate festival in Junnar. Similarly, a Mulberry festival is also on the cards.” He also hinted at the diversity that the state of Maharashtra has to offer, referring to the famous Vidarbha oranges, Satara jaggery, and of course the famous mangoes of Konkan region.

With the Grape Festival already a success story and setting the path right, travellers can now expect more diverse and innate festivals soon.
