In a country with over 17,500 islands, beaches and water sports beckon many a tourist. However, there is much more than just parasailing and jet skiing. Islands such as Bali and Lombok are some of the favourite destinations for adventurers. I had my first ever scuba diving experience in Bali. There are many dive tours that take you to various sites with amazing marine biodiversity and stunningly beautiful coral reefs. Some of these sites include shipwrecks, and wreck diving is very popular here. Being part of the Coral Triangle, Indonesia has over 20% of the world’s coral reef with 600 coral species and 3000 varieties of fish. Snorkelling is another favourite for those who want to gaze at the different colours of the ocean through underwater diving. I did some snorkelling at Pink Beach in Komodo Island and it was a breathtaking experience to just look at the beautiful world under water!
