This palatial building is a marvellous example of French-chateau style architecture built by King Amar Singh of the Dogra Dynasty. After serving the royal family as the official residence for decades, 4 rooms of the palace have now been turned into art galleries and museum. Featuring a golden throne weighing 120 kilograms, 25000 antique books, paintings of legendary painters M F Hussain and Laxman Pai and others, Pahari Paintings portraying major events from the Mahabharata and the heart-warming saga of Nala-Damayanti are the star attractions of this palace. Tourists can also avail the facility of heritage walks around the palace area to get in-depth knowledge regarding the history of Jammu and its sister cities. It is located on a hill top overlooking the beautiful Tawi River.
