All about Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express that is set to run on tracks from next month

Indian Railways is all ready to flag off its first Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express from October 4, with a host of new services, such as free travel insurance of INR 25 lakh each passenger to picking and dropping luggage for all the passengers. This will be the first train that will be operated entirely by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), a subsidiary of the railways. This train will be running six days a week except on Tuesdays. As per the latest news reports, the train’s fare will be 50 per cent less than the flight fares on the same route.Here’s all you need to know if you want to book a ticket in this new Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express.

• You can log into the official site of IRCTC and book tickets at ease; there will be no reservation counters at railway stations for booking tickets. However, travellers will also be able to book tickets via IRCTC authorised agents. Also, you can book tickets from other online travel portals.
• The advance reservation period for Tejas Express will be 60 days. No privileges, concessions, or duty pass will be permitted on these trains. Children of 5 years and above will be charged the full fare.
• There will be one air-conditioned chair car coach of 78 seats, which you can book in bulk, but that will be on first cum first serve basis as per the IRCTC. One can book this coach any time from the opening of booking and up to three days in advance of the train departure, IRCTC’s statement said.
• It will follow a dynamic fare rule, which means the train will feature different series of fares for busy, lean, and festive seasons.
