Many miles from anything remotely five-star, the Al Ain camel market—the last of its kind in the country—is perhaps the region's most authentic experience. Locals from every corner of the country—including the decidedly rural Ras Al Khaimah—come here to barter for these national treasures.
These ships of the desert are kept in pens and at the sight of Westerners many handlers will suddenly make like your best friend and offer to give you a tour. Warning: they want money, so set the price first, then go exploring.
