Housed within a renovated mansion in south Kolkata, ByLoom is a treasure trove of everything from beautifully colourful hand-woven textiles, to jewellery, wallets, organic cosmetics, bedding, artwork and other bric-a-brac. Spanning two floors, the collection is partial to women, although men too can browse through a limited stock of cotton shirts and kurtas. The biggest crowd-puller however, are the colourful and heavily patterned saris designed by the owners. The products are unique, and everything is hand-made. The stores patrons include big names like Aparna Sen, Shubha Mudgal, Amitav Ghosh and Kirron Kher, all known for their impeccable and distinctly traditional style.
