They plan to rule the world tomorrow and they're starting by replicating the world today. Tianducheng, the luxury real-estate company responsible for this photo-copied monolith and for recreating a Parisian neighbourhood around it, started working on this project in 2007.
The development reportedly accommodates 10,000 residents, who can enjoy unparalleled views of their very own 'Eiffel Tower.' While similar marketing gimmicks have hooked a growing population of affluent Chinese, the Eiffel Tower has fallen flat. Its odd location next to farmland, and poor infrastructural reach with dead-end roads, has meant the area remains largely uninhabited.
