When it comes to contemporary art, Chiang Mai has been picking up the pace. This creative hotspot has long been attracting travellers with its artsy vibe and laid back atmosphere. Being Thailand’s second-biggest city doesn’t hurt; as Chiang Mai’s population continues to grow, its arts infrastructure expands in tandem. With this year’s inaugural Galleries Night, alongside the launch of the city’s first official Art Map (available at café’s and galleries around town), Chiang Mai continues to come into its own as a hub for creativity. In true Thai style, the arts community here is based on mutual appreciation and support.
