Considered to be one of the largest mosques in Asia, this grand structure was built by Shah Jehan Begum, the eighth ruler of Bhopal. Due to lack of funds, it was left incomplete after her death and was completed only in the 1970s. The building has an impressive main hall, with an inter-arched roof, marble flooring and a large courtyard. There is an imposing double storey gateway at the mosque's entrance, while its twin minarets still rise above the city’s skyline.
