Behold the magnificent vistas of Mukteshwar

Mukteshwar is a lovely hamlet snuggled cosily amidst the giant hills of Kumaon. It is about 40 km away from Naukuchiatal, further ahead of Ramgarh. At an average elevation of 7500 ft above sea level, Mukteshwar offers majestic vistas of the expansive Himalayas, including that of Nanda Devi, one of the highest peaks in India. Amidst the pine trees of Mukteshwar lies the well known 350-year old Shiva Temple of Mukteshwar, situated at the highest point on this little hill station. The town also gets its name from this temple which is known as Mukteshwar Dham. A very popular point of visit is Choli Ki Jali, a rocky viewpoint that offers expansive vistas of the hills, valleys, the distant Almora town and the snow clad Himalayas. One has to take a narrow trail through a small forest patch to Choli Ki Jali, as it is quite an adventure with breathtaking views opening up. This place is an absolute stunner and a photographer’s delight. Numerous scavengers can be spotted swooping down near the cliffs. Mukteshwar is known for both its forest stretches and enchanting views of the Himalayas, and still holds an old world charm despite its popularity.
