Even if you're not interested in the history of the 1964 Civil Rights Act or the Vietnam War, President Lyndon Baines Johnson is still a fascinating character. The audio collection is particularly entertaining: for example, you can hear LBJ describe to his tailor, in excruciating detail, how much space he needs in his pants between the zipper and his 'bunghole'.
The permanent exhibits include everything from personal letters to ceremonial swords. A 7/8-scale replica of the Oval Office contains LBJ's actual desk and the teletype machine that delivered breaking news.

A recent renovation and redesign of the museum has added interactive displays and incorporated better technology, like kiosks to replay LBJ's recorded phone calls and a touch-screen mobile guide that enhances the self-guided tour with additional photos, audio, and videos.
