Just a 90 minutes flight from Hong Kong, is Taipei, a thriving metropolis in the nearby Taiwan Island nation. Loaded with cultural traditions and volcanoes, the capital city of Taipei features the Yangmningshan National Park and the Qixing Mountains (also known as the Seven Stars Mountains), which is a dormant volcano 1,120 m above sea level. For some light adventure, hike up to these mountains and then loosen up a bit by taking a dip in one of the natural hot springs abounding the resorts of the national park. Other necessary amenities are provided by the resort authorities. There are daily flights from Hong Kong connecting Taipei. To reach Yangmingshan National Park, board a bus from the main Taipei Railway Station, and you’ll be dropped at the Yangmingshan bus stop. Shuttle buses run every now and then from the bus stop throughout the park.
