Founded in 1962, Arkdes is Sweden's largest architecture and design museum showcasing the architectural history of the country. It is located in the same complex as the modern art museum Moderna Museet, on the island of Skeppsholmen. It exhibits architecture, urban planning & design and comes under the administrative authority of the Ministry of Culture. It’s here that you will find Swedish architectural history and construction from the 19th century till today. Catch the exhibitions showcasing the structural design of Sweden through the ages using models. Explore fascinating designs, unique collections and sustainable urban development. You can also take a guided tour and participate in the innovative activities for children on Sundays. The museum also has periodic exhibitions, a café and a special library with exclusive collections.
