Said to resemble the local fruit called durian, The Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay is the most dramatic and controversial addition to Singapore’s skyline. Occupying six hectares of waterfront land alongside Marina Bay, the complex boasts of a concert hall, recital studio, an outdoor theatre and exhibition spaces. Visitors can enjoy free daily performances at the centre’s Upper Concourse, as well as a diverse line-up of ticketed and non-ticketed music, theatre, dance and visual programmes all year round. The Esplanade also includes a host of dining and retail outlets as well as Singapore’s first performance arts library.
