Popular Chinatown PLU bar
Noteworthy for: Singapore's gay bars are concentrated in the Chinatown area. Under the same ownership as Tantric, Backstage Bar (13a Trengganu Street) is another worthy—if a little kitsch—local watering hole.
Singapore's favourite PLU bar (short for 'people like us'), Tantric lures in customers both for its LGBT-welcoming attitude and double-shot drinks. Quieter nights lend to chilling in the open-air courtyard, while deep house beats blasted at the weekend get punters on their feet.
The crowd is mostly comprised of a mixture of local and visiting gays and gay-friendlies, with many starting their night out here before heading across the road to dance hall Taboo (65/87 Neil Road).
