A frightening introduction to Chinese mythology
Noteworthy for: Don't miss The Ten Courts of Hell, which depict the ten gruesome stages one must pass through in order to get to heaven.
Created by the family behind the popular topical pain reliever, this park was one of three pleasure gardens built in Asia designed to teach visitors about Chinese mythology in a modern way.
Unveiled in 1937, the kitschy Singapore park features a collection of more than 1,000 brightly coloured, cartoonish statues depicting Chinese folklore. The stomach-turning depiction of punishments including disembowelment and dismemberment are bound to leave children with nightmares for life, but older kids will find it difficult not to giggle. You may even learn a thing or two.
