Take a beach break
If the tropical climate is getting to you in the city, make for Sentosa Island, just 500m from the mainland. This former British fortress was redeveloped into a holiday resort during the 60s, but, despite extensive renovations, the over-priced amusement park complex now known as Resorts World Sentosa still feels tacky.
Skip the rides in favour of enjoying the island's simple pleasures. Roll out your towel on a patch of white sand and enjoy the sunshine on Palawan Beach, join a game of volleyball on Siloso Beach or find your own spot to take a dip on the more secluded Tanjong Beach. The MRT and buses both service the island. Alternately, travel on foot via the Sentosa Boardwalk.
