Charity Shops
Pick up a bargain while doing some good
Word to the wise: Charity shops are increasingly popular amongst students, so you’ll now find younger, avant-garde fashions alongside more traditional ones – all for incredibly low prices.

Britain has a long tradition of charity shops, where you can pick up second-hand goods on the cheap while helping out a good cause, and Edinburgh is especially famous for its high-quality charity shops. With many centered around Nicolson Street, near the southern end of the Old Town, you can pick up clothes, books, music, games, electronics and much more.
You’ll also find scores of charity shops along Easter Road (close to the Hibernian FC stadium) and along Raeburn Place (in the area of Stockbridge). They’re all run by friendly volunteers.
