Seattle's largest green space
Encompassing a 534 acre (2.16 square kilometer) pocket of land northwest of the city center, Discovery Park is the ultimate space to enjoy a breath of fresh air. Aside from its various hiking trails and picnic areas, the park is a top birdwatching spot; the nearby Kiwanis Ravine has the area's largest collection of Great Blue Herons.
The secluded site includes two miles (3.2 kilometers) of protected tidal beaches as well as open meadow lands, dramatic sea cliffs, forest groves, sand dunes, thickets and streams. To get here from the CBD, take bus MT24 from 4th Avenue and Pike Street headed north.
