You must mark the taluka of Salcete, with Margao as its headquarters, on your itinerary if this interests you.

Salcete or Sashti, as it is referred to in Konkani is a collection of 66 villages, is rich with history, natural beauty and iconic heritage. Its glorious past of Kadamba Dynasty, heritage of ancient Hindu temples kept alive through festive processions, sites of first revolt against the Portuguese or simply the mansions would pique your curiosity that is rarely experienced elsewhere in Goa.

To explore these sites from Margao, it would be good to rent a bike. Drive to Chandor (southeast) on the first day, to Cuncolim (south) on the second, to Raia and Loutolim (north) on the third and finally to Majorda (northwest) on the fourth day or simply chalk your own itinerary. However, if you have a more relaxed vacation, you can also choose to hop on to buses going from the Central Market Bus Terminal towards these places and then walk the local area. For Chandor however, use the main bus terminal operated by Kadamba Transport Corporation, commonly referred to as KTC. You may choose to live in one of the nearby beach villages such as Benaulim, Betalbatim, Cansaulim, Colva, Majorda or Utorda and explore these as day trips before digging your feet in the cool evening sand and enjoy a chilled beer.
