Located at the southernmost tip of India, Rameshwaram may be better known a as temple town courtesy its connection with the epic Ramayana. However, when you come into this little town, you realise that it blends leisure, history, culture and spirituality seamlessly to give you an experience like no other. While the Ramanathaswamy temple is a must-do here, being in a sense the centre of all activity here, there is much more you can do. Ranging from visiting the awesome beaches, checking out the other smaller temples and their fascinating history, you can come up close with Sri Lanka (yes it is a mere 20 nautical miles from here at one point) this is where it all comes together. Incidentally the Ramanathaswamy temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is believed to have been established by Lord Ram himself! The connection with the epic Ramayan is hard to miss and the town is bound to leave you speechless with legends, myths, floating stones and more. Here are some of the things that you must do when you are in Rameshwaram.
