Over half a century old, this tiny, old-school Irani bakery is a Pune landmark. Its most famous product is the Shrewsbury, sweet and buttery shortbread-like biscuits named after an English town. They are far from being Kayani’s only teatime delicacy—other specialities include cheese papdi, khari (savoury puff pastry), nankhatai (eggless cookies), mawa cakes (soft cupcakes), ginger and coconut biscuits, and an assortment of breads. The timings are strict and everything sells out fast, so visit early to stock up on baked goodies.
