Nettle beer and hearty food
Word to the wise: Pivovarský dům's novelty 4-litre beer ‘giraffe’ sounds a lot more fun than it actually is.
Don't be put off by the grim concrete outside, Pivovarský dům is in fact one of Prague's premier microbreweries. Within staggering distance of Wenceslas Square, the large hall always has at least seven varieties of top-notch beer on tap, from permanent lagers, light ales and stouts to specialty flavoured beers like cherry, chocolate and ginger.
With polished copper vats and checkerboard tiles keeping the interior cheerful, it's a pleasant place to while away a few hours in mild inebriation. Its hearty Czech menu, meanwhile, will win no prizes for originality but still hits the spot well enough.
