One of the newest markets of Phuket (opened as recently as in 2016), the Phuket Floating Market is all about wonderful souvenirs and delicious local food. Located right next to the Loch Palm Golf Club, the shops of this floating market are mostly on a long boardwalk, brandishing pretty hats, earrings, neckpieces, breezy dresses, footwear, bags and sunglasses. Edibles on the other hand, are in the form of seafood, snacks, ice-creams, sweetmeats, tea and coffee. It’s delightful how the servers bring the food from the boats lining the walkway to the sitting area. If this arrangement does not appeal to you, you could dine in an actual and rather fancy restaurant that is a part of the establishment.

Although the prices of the souvenirs available here are quite competitive, they are definitely cheaper than the ones in the many malls of Phuket. The vendors at the Phuket Floating Market are all decked up in traditional costumes, thus imparting a unique vibe to this shopping destination. There’s also a stage on which regular dance performances are held. The statue of Lord Ganesha at the entrance only adds to the beauty of this resort-like marketplace. Expect to spend a nice afternoon, far away from the crowds.
