When the weather is rubbish and you just want to get away from it, why not go and see a movie? Catching a film in Thailand is an experience in itself. There is a 3-minute video honoring the king shown before the feature film at all major movie theatres in Thailand. Thai people love their King (I mean really really love their King), so make sure you take your hat off and stand up for the duration of this short film, and don’t laugh or do anything disrespectful. Try the first class seats! It’s so much cheaper than in Australia, Europe or the USA.
As a word of warning, make sure to take some warm clothes. This might seem crazy, but Thai movie theatres are known to crank the air conditioning, including the ones in Phuket. Also, make sure that the movie you are seeing is in English - some movies are subtitled in Thai, and occasionally they are dubbed.
The best two cinemas to see a movie in Phuket are:
