Letná Park

For beautiful views, wonderful walks and great beer gardens
Word to the wise: Letná Park's popular Beer Garden is a great place to spend a lazy summer afternoon.

Set on a hill across the river Vltava from the Old Town, Letná Park's panorama shows you almost all of Prague's fabulous architecture in one view. The gardens are a a draw in themselves, of course, an alluring checkerboard of leafy walkways and expansive lawns that are locals' first port of call when they want to escape the Old Town's crowds.
The park also has a number of attractions of its own, including the cast-iron Hanavský Pavilion (now a restaurant), the oldest functioning carousel in Europe and a striking giant metronome put up on the site of an old statue of Stalin). It's Letná Park's beer garden that people seem to love most, however, a charming place to sip beer under the trees on summer evenings, watching Prague laid out before you as rollerbladers and dog walkers amble past.
