Zorritos Beach
If you’re keen on beaches, a quick search will lead you to the Mancora region. Unfortunately, most tourists end their search here before booking a getaway in Mancora. But look a little further and you’ll discover an idyllic beach paradise, untainted by mass tourism. Zorritos is a district north of Mancora and Peruvians know it for its lush beaches, which are warm throughout the year thanks to the Humboldt Current, also known as the Peru Current. Peru might be infamous for its grey weather but here in Zorritos sunshine reigns supreme. It’s easy to get to Zorritos as buses frequently ply from Lima on the Pan American Highway. You will need to get off at Tumbes. Zorritos has a variety of hotels to choose from—sunloungers and hammocks are available in certain areas of the beach. Don’t forget to try food in Zorritos; it’s as authentic as can be. We loved sampling Peruvian ceviche and lomo saltado in the area.
