Derek Freal abandoned the American Dream in 2009 to travel the world and eventually realized that Asia is the best part, which is why most of his writing covers India to Indonesia (and everywhere in between). However Derek"s specialty is in unique and offbeat travel guides -- not just for Asia but countries across the globe -- and in producing travel videos. All this and more as the nomadic journey continues on http://blog.theHoliDaze.com.

My favorite restaurant in Pattaya is the top-rated Caravan. This small but welcoming restaurant specializes in Central Asian cuisine, with a focus on Uzbek and Kazakh dishes. Not only is the food authentic and delicious but it is (almost) nowhere else in Southeast Asia that you will find authentic Central Asian cuisine.

The chef, Albert, came around and spoke with us about our meals, eager to make sure that everything was to our liking. Unique food, great service, and a friendly staff. Well done!

Recommended dish: Start with the lagman, a tasty thick-noodled lamb soup. For a main, go with either the Uzbek pilaf or the caravan signature dish of boneless lamb shoulder blades. Both are phenomenal.
