These days Goa’s Morjim beach is in the spotlight for the numerous Olive Ridley turtle hatchlings that have been spotted everywhere at the site. Apparently, this is the season for Olive Ridley turtle hatchlings to come from the egg shell. A similar picture can be found across Mandrem, Morjim, Agonda and Galgibaga, which are the most ideal nesting sites for the Olive Ridley Turtles.

Goa is abundantly blessed with rich flora and fauna. It has forests along the Western Ghats that glow in the dark due to the presence of bioluminescent mushrooms. It also has a rich cultural heritage given its hinterlands, villages and old Hindu temples. However, Goa is mainly known as a party capital today for its exotic beaches, nightlife and casinos.
Naturally, many people are heartened to see the promising changes taking place in Goa’s environment. And we can just hope to see them being sustained by all the stakeholders –government, locals and tourists–in the future as well.
