This place is quite popular among bird lovers of Delhi. Spread across an area of 4 sq km, Okhla Bird Sanctuary is situated near the entrance of Noida along the eastern bank of the Yamuna River in Gautam Budh Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh. It is easy to reach the sanctuary that provides excellent birding opportunities so close to Delhi! Walk around the wetland and you are sure to sight a few birds, such as yellow-footed green pigeon, red munia, spot-billed duck and purple swamphen. You might also catch a glimpse of spotted owlet. The number of migratory birds, however, has reduced in recent years as they have started flying to the nearby Surajpur and Sultanpur sanctuaries due to the rising pollution and the construction going on in the vicinity of Okhla Bird Sanctuary.
