Like many other restaurants and bars in New Orleans’ French Quarter, the Court of Two Sisters is not only quirkily named but the place itself is rather unique. A wide passageway leads to a verandah in turn opens into a huge, shady courtyard in which sits a wishing well. The passageway has many wall displays including a death mask, and the place has a rather eclectic history referring to pirates, charm gates blessed by the Spanish queen Isabella, and voodoo associations with the wishing well. But more than anything else, it is the Bayou Bash that is the hero here. Made with red wine, Southern Comfort, pineapple juice, orange juice, cherry juice, Grenadine, and sweet and sour mix, the cocktail has a bit of drama. The various ingredients are layered and have to be mixed, and the end result is both refreshing and utterly potent.
