The Alexanderplatz Jazz club is one of the long standing historical location that every Roman knows. While it is not in the very center of the city, it is not far, just on the back of Saint Peter cathedral and easily reachable next to the “Ottaviano” metro station. The Alexanderplatz Jazz club was founded in 1984, and it has been opened ever since, except for a few months of break because of administrative problems quickly solved. It has been one of the first Jazz Club in Italy, mimicking the atmosphere of the better known North American venues. Almost difficult to find, hidden in a basement with a small entrance, it gives you the feeling of being in a private and cosy space, with its familiar walls decorated with posters, messages and signatures of the artists that performed here. While sitting comfortably at one of its tables you can let your emotions flows at the sound of the “black” music and reach an emotional apotheosis after the excellent improvisations of the artists. And if you feel like staying away from the touristic area for a while, you can even book a table and come here for dinner, enjoying its intimate atmosphere. While the Alexanderplats Jazz Club can get crowded at times, given the small cave-like space where it is hosted, the acoustic is great and the selection of Italian and international artists coming to play here is of the highest standard.
