I do not know whether it is the central location or the fact that Paddy’s Irish Bar transports visitors to Ireland, but the fact of the matter is that Paddy’s Irish Bar is an icon in Cusco. Every pub stereotype is played out here with great abandon. Soccer games are played on giant TV screens, Cider is imported from Ireland, the beer is good, and there is an informal vibe about the whole place. Don’t even get me started on the food. After a few days of eating only Peruvian food, I was craving a bit of western food. That’s when I dropped by Paddy’s Irish Bar and boy did it deliver! There are burgers, potato wedges, sandwiches, and huge breakfasts on the menu. Of course this is not fancy gourmet food but it is as good as pub grub gets. Hearty portions made from fresh ingredients are served up with a variety of sides and toppings. Combine this with a typical Irish cider or beer and you have a perfect meal right there. Located right opposite the gorgeous Cusco Cathedral, Paddy’s also boasts of being the highest Irish pub of the world. Drop by for some comfort food and chilled cider.
