Delhi's favourite deli seems to have entrenched itself in our sub-culture and our nightscape, dishing out smoked cocktails along with robust dishes and an eclectic dose of gigs. While the latter is only true for the recent entrant at the epicentre of cool – Hauz Khas Village – it's also the perfect showcase for all that's great about this brand. Finding a unique identity and drawing inspiration from each location, the HKV outpost is our clear favourite with a magnificent view of the fort ruins from the outdoors and an equally sublime story on the walls indoors. The bar area there, small as it may be, is usually packed with revellers dancing to techno, hip-hop and disco – a rarity in the city. So you can fuel your shimmy with a refreshingly uncomplicated Tangerine Mojito or their trademark Smoked Pineapple and Vanilla Martini. We love the Bellini and the Kiwi, Cantaloupe Melon, Jasmine and Vodka as well. And since it's Riyaaz Amlani's baby, no visit is complete without some nosh, of which we recommend the Lamb and Chipotle Patties and Chorizo Piccante. Whether you’re nursing a drink, stopping by for a quick pick-me-up or plonking yourself in a seat for hours – SHD gets our vote for a fun evening!
