Kansai Izakaya

If you like Japanese beer, this is the place for you. Bangkok has a large Japanese community and therefore, many Japanese bars; but izakayas are not just popular with Japanese people living in Bangkok. Locals and expats also find themselves enjoying these casual, after work bars. They are fantastic places to unwind after a long day and have a (lot of) beer and some Japanese dishes. Kansai Izakaya is a small bar, with simple wood tables and stools set very closely together. Chances are pretty good that you’ll know exactly what’s going on at the next table! The décor is very minimalistic, with grey concrete walls decorated only by some pictures and Japanese proverbs. Get there between 8:30 pm and 10 pm to enjoy their fantastic all-you-can-drink package of Asahi draft beer and Chuhai, a Japanese mixed beverage made of Shochu, a Japanese fermented drink, fizzy water and lemon or another fruit. Balance out the beer by trying some of the bar’s satisfying snacks, such as takoyaki or yakitori. They come in small portions so you can get several of them and create your own tasting menu to share with friends.
