New Orleans is so famous for po’boys that there’s a place on every street and round every corner which dishes up these delectable sandwiches. However, there are some that do it much better than the others and each has its own loyal clientele and following. The quirkily named Parkway Bakery and Tavern on Hagan Avenue is one such. Established over a hundred years ago, Parkway has become something of an ace in producing po’boys. From oysters and shrimp to roast beef, there’s a po’boy for every taste and mood; even vegetarian ones. Besides which, there’s also such unique dishes as alligator sausages, turkey gumbo, chilli and even a po’boy ice cream sandwich.
