Just the name Brandy Milk Punch evokes images of the holiday season and cold evenings, but in New Orleans, there’s no seasonal requirement to indulge. And though the drink was certainly not invented in New Orleans, the city does have a strong hold on it. Made with brandy or even cognac sometimes, it is mixed with syrup, whole milk, vanilla extract, and served cold. The result is a wholesome and tasty drink, deceptively simple but leaves you with a warm feeling. There are many places which dish up this drink and it is especially popular with lunch and brunch. Check out the versions served at Brennan’s and The Column Hotel. A variation to try is the Bourbon Milk Punch.
