Even to the casual observer, wandering around New Orleans will make it evident that the city can boast a few varieties of completely different architectural styles. At the heart of the city is the bohemian French Quarter with its predominantly European style, specifically Spanish, houses with beautiful grill work, pillars, balconies, and tastefully done windows and doors. On the other hand, a few kilometres to the West of the French Quarter you will find the Garden District with a profusion of plantation houses which are more mansions and bungalows. These are mainly Antebellum architecture, and demonstrate styles such as Greek Revival, Georgian, Neo-classical, as well as Creole cottages.
