Tamil Nadu's beaches
The state of Tamil Nadu is highly regarded as a fascinating tourist destination, and its beaches are certainly worthy of your visit. If you are ever-wondering about the beaches you should visit during your holiday to Tamil Nadu, then here is a guide to help you pin point some beach destinations.
Dhanushkodi
A beach destination that is unlike any you will see in India, Dhanushkodi is an extraordinary place. An abandoned beach town, Dhanushkodi is at the south-eastern tip of Pamban Island. The town was destroyed in the year 1964 by a cyclone, but today stands as a fascinating destination for travellers. You can see the ruins of the Dhanushkodi railway station and more here.
Marina Beach
If you ever visit Chennai, you have got to go to the Marina Beach. It is the second longest beach in the world, and is a central attraction of the city. Here at Marina Beach you can spend a long time trying out Tamil cuisine as food sellers put up stalls here. An additional experience is to visit the lighthouse and catching a glimpse of the sea and the city from atop.
Auroville Beach
The Auroville Beach, about 12 km away from the city of Pondicherry, is a place to spend some quiet time. A picturesque beach, here at Auroville you will find yourself facing blue waters, and absolute beauty. The beach is a great place for sunrise and sunsets, and you could also swim here in the waters. Auroville is also home to many places of interest.
Tharangambadi
A delightful destination, Tharangambadi, or what is also known as Tranquebar is a place of the singing waves. The beautiful Fort Dansborg constructed way back in 1620 is one of its main attractions. The majestic fort is picturesque, and along with the sea, it creates a picture that is certainly Instagram worthy.
