Here’s why you need to experience the Mount Abu Winter Festival

The festival is a great opportunity to experience the warm Rajasthani hospitality and the beauty of the hill station when it is at its cultural and traditional best.



The Mount Abu Winter Festival features folk dances like Daph or Dhamal dance from Haryana, Ghoomar and Gair dance from Rajasthan, and many other folk specialties from neighbouring states of Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. Other than traditional [dances, there are also firework displays, kite-flying, traditional sports and musical performances.




The festival always starts with a grand procession from the grounds of Hotel Shikhar, a Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC) run hotel. The procession, after covering most of the scenic spots, finally ends at the Nakki Lake Chowk. The procession is followed by a series of programmes performed by the cultural troupes from several neighbouring states.



Nakki Lake is an important part of the festival as several fun and adventure activities take place at the lake. Water sports are a big part of the festival and so are rowing competitions. A very big and grand firework display marks the end of the Mount Abu Winter Festival.


How to reach Mount Abu?

By air: Nearest airport is Udaipur, approximately 185 km from Mount Abu. There are direct flights from all major cities in India.

By train: The nearest railhead is Abu Road, approximately 28 km, and well-connected with other major cities.

By road: Mount Abu can be easily reached from Delhi, Ajmer, Jaipur and Udaipur. It is also a popular driving-holiday destination.
