It is about a 3-hour drive to Riding Mountain National Park, making it the perfect distance away for a weekend getaway. An interesting fact about this national park is that it is one of five national parks that actually has a town inside of it. The town of Wasagaming is located on the shores of Clear Lake, and bursts with charm and amenities. Here visitors can find a boat to rent, a store to get their groceries, a public beach, restaurants, and more. This park is one of the best places near Winnipeg to view wildlife and most of them can be seen as you drive through the park, including elk, moose, bears, and lynx. If it is Bison that you are after, head to Lake Audy where about 30 of them live in an enclosed area. There are a variety of ways to camp in this park, and camping is the recommended option if you want to experience all that the park has to offer. Choose from yurt camping, backcountry camping, or even a traditional Otentik tent. Hike, bike, splash, or even get your groove on at the annual outdoor concert at this wonderful and unique park in Manitoba.
