Maldives to allow US citizens from July 15 with certain conditions

The Maldives is ready to welcome international tourists once again after a hiatus, and it is opening on July 15. However, there is good news for the US citizens as well.

Reportedly, the beautiful Maldives has decided to open itself to the travellers from the US as well. Considering the severity of COVID-19 crisis in the US, it is welcome news for those people who would be keen to visit the Maldives for good relief and vacation. The Maldives features more than a thousand islands in the Indian Ocean.
News has it that the Maldives will allow international visitors only on resort islands and live-aboard boats starting July 15. August 1 onward, guest houses and hotels on inhabited islands shall be opened.

The U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention has advised people coming back to the States from another destination to self-isolate for 14 days and look for symptoms like cough and fever.To make it easier for the tourists, the Maldives won’t ask them to pay an additional fee, produce a COVID-19 test certificate as a pre-condition for entry. Reportedly, tourists with no symptoms need not have to quarantine themselves after entering into the Maldivian borders. However, tourists who do not show COVID-19 symptoms would be asked to pay for a health test. Those with visible symptoms or those who had come in contact with a COVID-19 positive patient in the recent past have been advised against travelling to the Maldives.

According to the Maldives’ Ministry of Tourism, more than 40 resorts will become operational by July end. Meanwhile, Soneva Fushi and the Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru have been opened for the tourists, whereas One & Only Reethi Rah and Milaidhoo Island will be opened on July 24 and August 1 respectively.
