An extremely popular and rustic tavern in La Latina
Almendro 13 is far from undiscovered - but that's part of its allure. Vying for a spot at one of the overturned barrels that serve as tables in the small dining room is a city sport.
The huge, shareable plates include grilled jamón sandwiches, huevos con pisto (eggs with ratatouille) and huevos rotos con jamon (fried potatoes topped with bits of ham and “broken” fried eggs).
Try the salmorejo, a creamy cold soup of tomatoes, garlic, bread and salt, all whipped together into a delicious concoction. Everyone drinks cañas, small glasses of beer on tap, or white wine from tiny tumblers. Actually nothing else is available, apart from water.
