A temple of mixology
Don’t be misled by the name, Chicote's not a museum but a cool cocktail bar dating from the 1930s. It was a favourite watering hole of legendary imbiber Ernest Hemingway and Hollywood stars when they were in town. It was also where foreign journalists hung out while they reported on the Spanish Civil War.
While the cocktails are as good as they ever were, and the unchanged retro-chic Art Deco interior just as elegant, the vibe is thoroughly modern lounge bar, with sessions from top DJs. Sit back in one of the leather-clad booths and drink in the history.
