El Pan de la Chola is one of Lima’s most popular cafés right now and with good reason. It is known for serving good coffee that is splendidly full-bodied and hits all the right spots. Everything from the cappuccino to Americano screams quality. Make sure you order your cuppa with one of El Pan de la Chola’s decadent croissants or cookies on the side.
But that’s not all. El Pan de la Chola is always buzzing with Lima’s hipsters, artists, and curious tourists because it serves some of the best food in town. Interestingly, El Pan de la Chola started as a tiny establishment selling freshly baked bread loaves by Jonathan (Chola) and till date, all bread is baked fresh on the premises. Simplicity is the key word when it comes to food in this establishment—think gourmet bread topped with avocados and sprinkled with a smidgeon of sea-salt and crushed black pepper. There is a variety of delicious delights on the menu, each better than the last. We love the marmalade, hummus, sun-dried tomatoes, and even the homemade pesto. In each case, it’s the quality of the produce that shines through the product.
