Japanese cuisine with Michelin-starred aplomb

Popular plate: The sweet shrimp with uni sotomaki roll extolls the virtues of a salt and honey flavor pairing.

Having earned three Michelin stars for his New York restaurant Masa, chef-owner Masayoshi Takayama's Vegas eatery opened in 2009 to thundering buzz. Just like the venue's Manhattan arm, there are two sides to the culinary experience: Bar Masa, which offers casual a la carte dining (sushi, sashimi, rolls, habachi), and Shaboo, an intimate, formal (read: expensive) dining room featuring omakase-style hot pot cookery.

True to its Vegas setting, Bar Masa is also a visual showstopper, featuring hand-blown glass lights that give the cavernous space a warm, golden glow.
