If you’re determined for a decent stay while in this age-old city, know that the Kyoto Century Hotel is a sanctuary of fine living. But there are equally exciting ways to pass the time inside this modish property, like dining at their superb restaurants —or taking a pick from the house bakery where the eats are sure to leave you hooked. The guest rooms have desks, free WiFi and flat-screen TV. They also have mini-fridges, and tea and coffeemakers. The bathrooms are stocked with lovely toiletries. Upgraded quarters have sitting areas, while suites offer private gardens and/or sofas. The hotel is so close to Kyoto JR station so it was a great base for us doing day trips to Nara and Hiroshima and the famous Kinkaku-ji historic temple and gardens are within easy reach.
