Handmade produce from Poland's oldest monastery
The Benedictine monks of Tyniec abbey - perched on the eastern bank of the vistula eight miles outside the city - have been brewing, drying and pickling their own produce for 900 years.
Now there are over 40 Benedicite stores across Poland, including two in central Krakow, selling handmade preserves, biscuits, cheese, meat and alcoholic drinks. Their famous liqueurs make superb gifts - try the aniseed-flavoured Awdańca Opata made by Benedictine monks in Lubin, or the Krzepiący cordial, made with herbs including lemon balm and pennywort.
